Unattended Jetty mooring fee’s:  R120 per week fee for boats left unattended attached to club jetties.  This policy was adopted by the MYC committee in 2014 but has not always been diligently enforced.  It becomes due at the end of the first week.  Intended to cater for a scenario where a skipper sailing on a weekend has a problem with their mooring or boat and needs to buy parts etc before re-mooring it.  Generally weekdays are very quiet at the club so there’s little inconvenience to other members if the skipper returns the following weekend to sort out the problem.  However if the boat is still blocking the jetty by the following Sunday afternoon the fee will become due.   We ask members to be sensitive to the needs of other members in busy holiday periods when there maybe demands on jetties even in week time.  This applies only to boats left unattended, if you’re at the club and actively using your boat and then the jetties are there for your enjoyment free of charge.

Non-member mooring fees:  R250 per month for a boat left on a mooring at the club but belonging to a non-member.  The MYC committee has  implemented this policy to deal the anomaly where a boat is sold to a non-member who fails to then apply for membership.  That boat would incur the Non-member mooring fee from the month after ownership passes until it’s removed or the new owner is accepted as a member.  While a non-member they can only enter the club as a member’s guest – the member must be present.  Naturally this fee would also apply to a visiting boat – someone bringing a boat up for a regatta or just to experience the dam should be happy to pay this small fee to have it left under the watchful eye of our caretaker if they intend to come up to sail again in a month or two rather than cart the boat back immediately.  Again this applies to unattended boats; visiting boats participating in a regatta incur no fee.

New Moorings:  Members needing a mooring are responsible for the cost of the block & lines and must co-ordinate installing it.   Please communicate in advance with the Commodore or Bosun who will help you identify a good position.   Usually other members will be willing to assist you.   We try to keep a couple of spare blocks in stock on the bank - they cost R250 incl. labour & materials but please check current availability in advance.   Note:   Should your membership lapse or you resign, then the mooring is forfeit to the club and may be re-assigned.
